Dr. Nishama De Silva Mohotti

Department of Chemistry

I'm Nishama De Silva Mohotti. I grew up in Sri Lanka and earned my Bachelor of Science Honors Degree in Chemistry from the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka in 2018. For graduate studies, I moved to the United States and joined Dr. Meredith Hartley's lab. I completed my Ph.D. in Chemistry in 2025 as the first student from Hartley lab. In the Hartley lab my research was centered on investigating neurodegenerative disease-associated molecular mechanisms, with a particular emphasis on lipid regulatory pathways that influence myelin repair. After my Ph.D., I'm joining Dr. Dingran Chang as a postdoctoral researcher. I'm really excited to be working with the Chang group to expand my knowledge on functional nucleic acids and their applications to advance translational biomedical science.
