Postdoctoral researcher
Dr. Maximillian Ifeanyi Chibuike
Department of Chemistry
My name is Maximillian. I had my undergraduate degree in industrial chemistry from the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Imo State, Nigeria. In 2017 I moved to the US to work on my master's degree in applied chemistry at the New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU). During my master's program I worked on the synthesis and characterization of magnetic metal-organic frameworks (m-MOFs) for wastewater treatment and optoelectronic applications. Upon completion of my master's degree in Fall 2019, I moved to Lawrence, Kansas, in 2020 to work on my Ph.D. I completed my Ph.D. in chemistry in 2025 from the University of Kansas (KU) under the tutelage and supervision of Prof. Steven A. Soper. In Dr. Soper's lab, my focus was on the label-free single peptide detection and identification using nanoscale electrochromatography and resistive pulse sensing in thermoplastic nanofluidic devices for peptide fingerprinting. After completing the Ph.D. program, I joined Dr. Dingran Chang as a postdoctoral researcher. In Dr. Chang’s group, I will be passionately working on the development of functional nucleic acid–based sensors for real-time disease monitoring and point-of-care diagnostics.
